We have multiple projects that pull our attention over the course of a day. How do I keep the pieces and parts separate yet readily available?
My favorite tip is COLOR CODE COLOR CODE COLOR CODE! You may think I am nuts and maybe I am but that's another story! There are wonderful, colorful manila folders, plastic trays, see-through binders, etc. that you can utilize to color code your projects. Locate each project instantly by its unique color and packaging. I even go so far as to have the same color LEGAL PAD to match the project. For example, if I am working on the Golf Fundraiser for church, I will put EVERYTHING about that project in my green Xerox XDocIT™ folder. I even have a green pad of paper that I take to all meetings for notes, etc. If someone calls regarding a date or a note, I am not searching for that project info amidst all my other projects.
Same for each Webinar that Synthesis is planning/hosting - each has a color coded file for easy access when one of the panelists calls with questions or registration information. Every detail is in that particular file which is then stored in a tiered Project Holder on the corner of my desk.
Of course the best way to organize your life and projects is with ACT! Check out this article from our October 2006 Success Tip! |
