3 Easy Steps to Boost Productivity |

Recently, at a training I was conducting, one of the attendees said, "I start work at 9:00 AM, and often spend an hour each day just trying to figure out what I have to do that day. It seems like by the time I actually start doing any work, half of my morning is already wasted."
Here are three quick ideas I offered . . .
1) GIVE YOURSELF A HEAD START. Rather than waiting until the beginning of your day to begin planning, make your To Do list the night before. This way, you'll be all set to get going the following morning. Remember, you deserve this time as much as any client or boss - so schedule this half hour with yourself on a daily basis and keep it a priority!
2) GET THERE ON TIME OR EARLIER. Start working on your To Do List items first thing or at your regularly scheduled time, or even earlier if possible. Don't relax for two hours just because you wrote up your To Do list the night before. :-). If you are going to see a contact, be sure and print off the Contact Report (first on the list under the menu bar, Reports) to take with you and review prior to your meeting.
3) EVALUATE THE THINGS YOU'RE WORKING ON. Just because you've been doing something a certain way for a long time, it doesn't necessary mean it's the most productive way. Reevaluate how you're doing your tasks to be sure that they really have to be done, and if so, that they're being done in the most efficient way possible. Not sure? Ask someone else how they do it - you may be surprised at the ideas you can give/get. |
