Take a look at 30 minutes of time. Let's say you use that time to watch a video on your computer...
You could say you WASTED that time because you avoided working on a pending project.
You could defend you SPENT that time stepping away from the project on your lunch hour, relaxing and refreshing your mind.
Or you could trust that you INVESTED that time by waching a video to help you learn a technique to enhance your project.
We all are given 15 minute or 30 minute blocks of time each day to do one of three things: WASTE, SPEND or INVEST. None of these is worse than the other - they just have different results.
We have a threshold at Synthesis - if you are 'on the clock' you need to be doing one of three things: Billing, Marketing or Educating. Kevin Elam, our 'web guy' invested time recently researching ways to turn our choppy online PowerPoint presentations into great looking and sounding video streams. He is now spending the next two months transferring our Webcasts into this new format. His research time was not time wasted even though it was not time billed. He invested in all our futures.
If you feel you are not getting enough done during the day - take a look at YOUR 15 minute or 30 minute increments of time. Determine if you are wasting, spending or investing. The best way to make that determination is to ask someone else to give their viewpoint. (Just THINKING about asking someone else will tell you your true answer!) Try investing your time more wisely. That 30 minutes is going to pass anyway - you might as well have something productive at the end to show for it!

Know where your money is with accurate, concise, readable reports that reflect your specific business categories and requirements.
After spending 25 years in sales and sales management (19 with the same company) Gary Rogoff joined Synthesis in 1998. Gary took over the management of the operations of the company and was asked, also, to direct the business growth in a more targeted manner. Gary is known for distilling all information down into three reports for 'success at a glance' - both in sales and production. His Monday morning sales meetings are legendary - he can keep the finger on the pulse of Synthesis by asking 25 people to submit 3 reports - their prospect list, their sales funnel and their next week's itinerary. Within an hour, he manages the direction of the team and ensures all prospective sales are geared to closure. This consistent leadership is a hallmark of Gary's contribution not only to Synthesis, but to clients.
